Raymond Andrew Bargo, Jr., known by his friends and family as Andy, passed away September 22, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri, at The Maples.  Grandpa Andy leaves behind his legacy of the gift of gab, perfectly mowed yards, a vast collection of UPS stories, stacks of cut firewood, his Clark Griswold Christmas light displays, and his beautiful landscape berms.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen Bargo; his son, Clint Bargo, Clint’s wife, Sarah, and their kids, Cain and Ella; his daughter, Lindsey Smith and her sons, Trent, Dane, Easton, and Heath; his daughter, Amanda Goddard, her husband, Adam, and their sons, Wyatt and Landon; his sister-in-law, Dianne Hutchins and her two sons, Jason and Justin; and his very sweet and long-time neighbor, Betty Harris.

Andy was born to his parents, Raymond and Betty Bargo, December 15, 1951, in Springfield, Missouri. He grew up in a loving home with his parents and sister Connie in Springfield. Their beloved neighbor Ms. Smith was like a bonus mother to Andy. The family of four shared several memories together while on vacations, working at their family-owned grocery store Conine’s Market, and enjoying their cabin at Rockaway Beach.

He attended school at McGregor Elementary, Jarrett Middle School, and then graduated from Parkview High School in 1969. While in school, he was active in Boy Scouts, Eagle Scouts (June of 1967), wrestling, baseball, weightlifting, and varsity football. Andy was later enlisted in the U.S. Army reserves and underwent training in infantry at Fort Ord, California. He completed training on February 11, 1972.

He worked for a regional grocery store chain Consumers Markets and later United Parcel Service (UPS). He retired as a UPS driver after 28 years with the company. Andy loved telling stories from his UPS days.

He loved to help coach and watch his kids play sports. Later in life, Grandpa Andy enjoyed watching all of his grandkids play sports. He was a loyal church member every Sunday for Pastor Roger. When he wasn’t with his family, he was working in his yard, mowing a neighbor’s lawn, donating platelets at the Community Blood Center, or finding unique treasures at garage sales.

My dad never met a stranger, and he would talk to anyone that would listen. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones, but his memories will live on and leave smiles on our faces.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, in Springfield.  Services will begin at 12:00 p.m., with Pastor Roger Sutherland officiating.
