Raymond Edward Miller, 80, currently of Springfield, Missouri went to be with his Savior and Lord Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Ray is survived by his wife Violette, the love of his life for nearly forty years; Greg (Marisela) and Chris (Alison), his sons by his first marriage; and sons of Violette, Bruce (Heather) and Philip (Sierra) Maxwell whom he helped to raise. Eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren will miss Ray’s admiring smiles.
Ray was born on June 30, 1945, and lived most of his life in the San Bernadino, California area. He was a skilled carpenter and craftsman. He used his construction skills remodeling houses, creating exquisite cabinets, and so much more. In his early forties Ray surrendered his life to Jesus. He became an ordained minister. The rest of his life he passionately served in church and community ministries and for twenty-one years as the lead chaplain to the police and fire departments in San Bernardino, California.
In 2020 Ray and Violette moved to Springfield, Missouri to be near Violette’s brother David and his wife Julie. As part of his legacy, Ray wrote his life story in a book entitled, The Essence of His Presence, available on Amazon.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at James River Church, 6100 N 19th St, Ozark, MO 65721, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M.
The funeral service will be live streamed and will be available below 15 minutes before the service start time.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens 3506 N. National, Springfield, Missouri 65803 at 2:00 P.M.
