Reba Genevieve (Owen) Gardenhire, age 99, of Springfield MO., passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She is survived by her son-in-law, Jerry W. Redfearn of Springfield, MO; her two grandchildren; Lari Jump and her husband Rob and great grandson Owen Jump, of Springfield, and David Redfearn and long time friend Jennifer and great grandson Josh, of Springfield. Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Gardenhire; her sister Virgie Dewitt and her beloved daughter, Mary Redfearn.
Reba was born on April 5, 1913 in Greene County, MO. Reba’s longtime love of sewing and quilting started when she worked in the fabric department at Levy Wolf department store for many years. She was an active member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church where she was an important part of “The Quilters”, volunteered numerous hours with Crosslines and a member of the Hardin Sunday school class. She was recognized as Honorary Life Membership by the Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mercy Villa, for their compassion and care during her illness. A graveside service will be held at Patterson cemetery on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 10:00 am, with Gary Elmer officiating, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
