Rebecca Ann (Roper) Farmer, 82, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on March 19, 2024 with her son Kyle by her side. Becky was the oldest daughter of Wilbert and Jean Roper. She was born on August 30, 1941 in Lebanon, Missouri. Her family relocated to Springfield, Missouri when she was 7 years old. She attended Ritter School, then went to junior high at Pleasant View, and graduated in 1959 at Fair Grove High School. Immediately following graduation, she began her career at the Springfield News-Leader working in the Dispatch/ Ad Services department.
She married in 1960 and welcomed two boys, 11 months apart. She fondly referred to them as “my boys.” She raised Keith and Kyle on a registered Holstein dairy farm in Fair Grove, MO, where they enjoyed spending time and traveling to cattle shows all over the United States.
After 39 years at the Springfield News-Leader, she retired and moved to the Emerald Beach arm of Table Rock Lake. She enjoyed entertaining her friends and family, especially on her front porch.
Becky’s pride and joy was being, “Nanna” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brothers Dale and Dean Roper, her nephews Tony Roper, Greg and Bryan Blair, and brother-in-law Bill Davis. Becky is survived by her sons; Keith Farmer, Midlothian Texas, Kyle & wife, Delana Farmer, Fair Grove; her grandchildren, Kelsey & husband Taylor Grubaugh, Ozark, Kameron & wife Olivia Farmer, Marionville, her great grandchildren; Durham and Rilynn Grubaugh, and Kayson Farmer. Her sisters; Lois Davis, Jeri Roper, Sue Roper, and Jana Roper Setzer & husband Mike, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Becky will be 4:00-6:00pm Monday, March 25, 2024 at Greenlawn East Funeral Home with service immediately following. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Spring Ridge Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care of our mom and Nanna.
