Rebecca (Becky) Sue McIntosh Lyman left her earthly home during the early morning hours of Monday, May 16, 2011. At only age 50, Becky’s passing was sudden and shocking to all who knew and loved her so. Although she didn’t feel well on Sunday, she enjoyed a great day with her family and then while her earthly family slept, Becky was reunited in Heaven with her parents and grandparents. Becky had missed her mama each and every day for the last 13 1/2 years, but she got to see her again on Monday morning and she had so many stories to share with her and her dad. Becky was born to Carl and Sondra McIntosh on April 10, 1961 on a spring day filled with snow flurries in Springfield MO. Becky spent nearly all her life in Strafford and lived the past 46 years in the home her parents built.
Becky was a 1979 graduate of Strafford High School. On April 8, 1983 she was married to William (Billy) Lyman. On December 30, 1984 she took on a role she dearly loved as she became a mom to Brandy Rachell. Then on May 16, 1999 her little William Brandon was born for her to love and adore. Becky loved her family with all her heart. She experienced that love grow even more as she became a Nana to Malory Paige in 2008. She was as proud as any Grandma could ever be of that new “baby girl” in her life.
Becky was a loyal and dedicated employee. She was one of the original employees for the Strafford McDonalds and she celebrated her 20 year anniversary this past January. Over the years she worked with and trained many young people who thought so much of her and loved her and her fun loving spirit.
Becky had a great sense of humor and lots of wit. Her off-the-wall comments will always be remembered by her loved ones.
There are so many things Becky liked; camping at Mill Creek, watching “Survivor”, family vacations, peonies, red velvet cake, writing love notes to her kids and rock music. And then there were a few things we all know she wasn’t so fond of things like dusting, driving on the highway, bullies, cooking, reruns of the “Simpsons”, and country music.
Becky was preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy and Ann Campbell and Roy and Eunice McIntosh; her parents, Carl and Sondra McIntosh; and father-in-law, William Lyman.
Becky’s family will hang on to their wonderful memories and they will miss her each and every day this side of Heaven.
Those left to mourn and grieve Becky’s absence include her husband and love of her life, Billy; her children and also her best friends, Brandy and Brandon; and her precious “baby girl”, Malory Paige; son-in-law, Justin; her sister, Terri Lay; brother, David McIntosh; in-laws, Barbara and Dan Osredker; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, co-workers, friends; and an entire community who loved her so.
Becky’s earthly remains will be laid to rest along side her parents and grandparents in Eastlawn Cemetery, Springfield, but her memory will always remain in the hearts of her family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Friday, May 20, 2011. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. also in the funeral home.
