Rene Ann Rasul, 70 years young, passed peacefully in to the light from the comfort of her home on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 5:44pm with the setting sun streaming through her window.
Born March 4, 1949 and raised in Cabool, MO, Rene married at a young age and began building her legacy as the strong, capable, and determined woman who accomplished anything she set her mind to. Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, compassionate friend and coworker, Rene made a lasting impression on all the people she connected with throughout her life. “She taught me, she fed me, she listened, and she treated me like one of her own kids. We would regularly talk about anything but work and she was someone I deeply respected as a professional and loved as a human being,” said her longtime co-worker and friend Michael Phipps.
Rene is survived by her five children and a son-in-law and daughter-in-law. Mark McKinney, Brian McKinney, Nigel Holderby and his wife K. Nigel Holderby, Sarah Rasul, Annah Crow and her husband Dakota Crow. Eight adored grandchildren Sierra Lambrou, Brianne Holderby, Abigail Holderby, Ellie Beauchamp, Suzann Cornelison, Farrah Cornelison, Jaxon Crow, and Eliza Crow. Her sister and brother-in-law Binnie and Guy Stephens, sister-in-law Jean Williams, brother John Williams and companion Trish Pritchard, cousin and dear friend, Sherry Honeycutt and many nieces, nephews and other special family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Emerson and Vermell (Fair) Williams, and her brother Kenneth “Buddy” Williams.
In her final days of life, she had one last request. In a burst of clarity, she said, “put the sunshine on me.” Her last hours of awareness were spent in her favorite chair with the sun shining on her face. Just as she enjoyed the warmth of the sun on her face in life, we are reminded of her now as we feel the sunshine beaming down on all of her loved ones.
Celebration of Rene’s life will be held Sunday, September 1st from 1:00-3:00pm at Greenlawn East located at 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO 65809. Sending floral arrangements in her memory is welcomed and encouraged. Following the visitation, all arrangements will be taken to the Mercy Clinic Cancer and Hematology – Chub O'Reilly Cancer Center to provide comfort and share love with those who continue the fight. Final interment will be at Cabool Cemetery.
