Retha Jeanine Zulauf, age 59 of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away November 26, 2010 in her home. She was the youngest daughter of Edwin Robert and Maxine (McColm) Zulauf, born March 12, 1951 in Halfway, Missouri.
She graduated from Halfway High School in 1969 and attended nursing school at the Burge School of Nursing. She was saved at Walnut Ridge Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. She joined there and was baptized below the Sunset Bridge. After moving to Bolivar, she attended South Side Missionary Baptist Church, but remained a member of Walnut Ridge Missionary Baptist Church until her death. Jeanine married Karl Ryan on December 22, 1969 and to this union two lovely daughters were born, Sandra and Kristi. She and Karl owned dry cleaning businesses in Bolivar and Buffalo for several years. They moved to South Dakota, but to returned to Bolivar in 2002, where she resided until her death. She loved working in health care, especially her care of Alzheimer’s patients.
Jeanine was preceded in death by her parents and a number of aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her two daughters: Sandra Jean and her husband Justin Barnhouse and Kristi and her husband Wayne Marshall, all Bolivar, MO; one sister Mardell Skinner of Bolivar, MO; three grandchildren, Ryan Martin; JD Barnhouse and Millie Barnhouse; one aunt Jean and her husband Vernon Carter of Halfway, MO; one uncle Ben and his wife Dora Zulauf of Torrington, Wyoming; two step sisters-in-law Oma Ryan of Bolivar, MO and Kathy Smith of Stockton, MO; one step brother Ted Ryan of Bolivar, and a host of cousin and friends.
Funeral services for Retha Jeanine Zulauf are at 11:00 AM Monday November 29, 2010 in Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri with the Elder Efton Piper officiating.
