Rex Alan Woodmansee, 49, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord at 11:39 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013. He was born, Thursday, January 9, 1964, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Johnnie and Hilda (McKinney) Woodmansee.
Rex was a 1982 graduate of Hillcrest High School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Neurology from Missouri State University and graduated as an RN from St. John’s School of Nursing. Rex was employed several years at the MO Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon and later at the V.A. Clinic in Mount Vernon.
Rex was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Rogersville. He was passionate about sailing, rock climbing, repelling, and most of all, spending time with his son, Alex and family.
Rex is survived by his parents, Johnnie and Hilda Woodmansee; a son, Alex; two sisters, Debby Cruse and Marsha Shipley and her husband, Robert; two nephews, Gary Cruse, Bryan Cruse and his wife, Belinda; two nieces, Marlana Shipley and Gretchen Shipley; two great-nephews, Gary and Lincoln; four great-nieces, Amanda, Andrea, Daisie and Shelby Cruse, all of Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Rev. Vaughn Weatherford officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in the funeral home.
