Richard (Dicky) Ervin Bray 68, Springfield MO. He departed this life Nov. 10, 2020 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO.
Dicky was born May 10, 1951 in Colby, KS to Ervin and Della (Morse) Bray. In 1957 he, his parents and two sisters, Dorothy and Joleen moved to Springfield, MO. The reason for moving was so he could attend the Springfield School for the Mentally Retarded. Dicky liked school and especially riding the school bus to and from school. He could sit right behind the driver, Fern Davis, to watch the door being opened and closed when the other kids got on and off the bus.
In 1961, Dicky was ten years old when his youngest sister Terri Lea was born. He took special interest in her watching as she grew up. They developed a close bond. It was Terri and her husband Tom who came to take care of Dicky when his mother, father and stepmother had passed away.
After graduating from the School for the Mentally Handicapped, Dicky went to work at the Springfield Workshop where he enjoyed being with his friends-coworkers. When his Dad Ervin retired from the Paul Mueller Company, Dicky thought he should retire too and did.
He spent a lot of his time watching Joy Robertson and David Oliver on KOLR tv, his favorite broadcasters. Dicky could not miss watching Fred Flintstone, either. He loved his country music especially Charley Pride’s “Kiss Angel Good Morning” and Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”.
Dick was an incredibly special person, the best brother ever. He loved and was loved by his family and friends, both two legged and four legged.
