Richard Leroy Kern, age 73, of Battlefield, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Cox Medical Center South from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Richard Leroy Kern, age 73, of Battlefield, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Cox Medical Center South from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born February 20, 1937, in Waterloo, Iowa. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of the home, Charlene; two sons, Scott Kern of Springfield and Kevin Kern and wife Diana of Hayden, Idaho and their daughter, Danielle; two brothers, twin Roger Kern and fiance Shirley Farwell of Dixon, IL and Roy Kern and wife Becky of Republic, MO; one sister, Betty Lou Brandhorst and husband Rodger of Waterloo, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home South with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service at 2:00 pm.
Memorial donations may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Mission Fund, 2210 W. Republic, Springfield, MO 65807, or left at the funeral home.
