RICKEY DON DAY
Rickey Don Day died peacefully in Mercy Hospital on October 11, 2014 in Springfield, MO at age 67.
Rick was born on September 29, 1947 in Springfield, MO to Bearl and Maxine Day. He graduated from Republic High School in 1965. He married Cynthia Carter on May 27, 1966. Rick served in the United States Army in Cheyenne Platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Division, Republic of Vietnam, 1966-68. Rick worked for McDonnell Douglas prior to his time in the service. He spent the balance of his career with the United States Postal Service until he retired in 2004. .
Rick enjoyed reading, working outdoors and always lending a hand to help his friends and family. He was an active member of Crossway Baptist Church. He was saved at the age of 10 and was passionate in asking everyone about their faith. The couple raised their children, Wesley and Deanna, to love the Lord. Rick and his grandson, Alex, have been inseparable buddies.
Rick is survived by his wife, Cynthia Day; parents, Bearl and Mary Day of Republic; children, Wesley Day of Branson; Deanna and Matt Crawford of Springfield; siblings, Danny and Donna Day of Clever; Larry and Gail Day of Republic; Kim and Greg Cole of Republic; and grandson, Alex along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by mother, Maxine Conn Day.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 pm on Tuesday, October 14 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. A funeral is scheduled for 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 15 at Crossway Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Crossway Baptist Church Student Building Fund at 2900 N. Barnes, Springfield, MO 65803.
