Robert C. “Bob” Abbett, age 75 years, formerly of Springfield, died June 22, 2009, in Maries Manor. He was born February 12, 1934, in Meta, Mo., the son of Walter and Brooxie Renfrow Abbett. He was married to Betty Freshour Abbett on December 10, 1982, who preceded him in death. Bob graduated from Vienna Maries R-1 High School and served 12 years in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a truck driver for approximately 35 years. He is survived by one son, Bobby Abbett, Arkansas; one step-son, John Freshour; one step-daughter-in-law, Charlette Freshour; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger (Mary Ann) Abbett, St. James, Mo.; one sister, Barbara (Ron) Meyer, Meta; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Abbett; and one step-son, Bill Freshour. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 10 a.m., in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, with visitation at 9 a.m. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
