Robert Charles “Bud” Norton
Born to Anna Marie Brown Norton and Maurice Norton in Sedalia May 11, 1927. Bud attended school in Sedalia until joining the Merchant Marines in 1945 where he served in the South Pacific and India. Upon completion of service he returned to Sedalia and attended Central Missouri State College. Graduating with a degree in education, he was then drafted into the army serving two years in St. Louis. He married Helen V. Lumpee September 19, 1954. Bud later joined the Air Force as a First Lieutenant. He worked for Ralston Purina Co. in the Research Department. He enjoyed being a salesman for Pillsbury Co. and in 1961 joined McKesson Chemical Co. and later became the Springfield Branch Manager from which he retired in 1987. Preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Anna Marie Norton Hosford, step-father, James H. Hosford, sister, Helen Jean Norton, and brother, George Byron Hosford. Survived by his wife Helen V. “Ginny” Norton and children, grandchildren: Cindy and Bruce Anderson, Tessa, Robert C. Norton, Jr. and Jill, Bailey and Robert, III, Dylan McHardy, Frank and Julie Norton, Kelly, Ginney (Matt) Wright, Frank, Jr. (Lauren), Nancy Norton, Biswas, Marianne Foster, Brianna (Matt Varghese), Austin Foster and great-grandchildren Cody and Sally McHardy and Sarai Varghese.
Military services will be held Thursday November 20th at 11am at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery and a Life Celebration to follow the same day at 1pm at Brentwood Christian Church, 1900 E. Barataria Street, Springfield, MO 65804
