Robert C. Thomas, age 92, of Fair Grove, Mo., passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011 in his home. He was born September 25, 1918, in Wayne, Mo., in Barry County. He received his Master’s Degree in School Administration and served 41 years teaching and in school administration. He served 17 years as Superintendent of Fair Grove Schools, retiring in 1978. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Lenny” and Elvia Mae Thomas; and sister, Lorene Monckton.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Thomas, Fair Grove, Mo.; four children and their spouses, Bob and Donna Kaye Thomas, Rick and Gay Lea Thomas, Don and Jan Thomas, Jan and Jim Gaba; step-daughter, Linda McCurry; eight grandchildren, Terry Lynn Thomas, Mike Thomas, Don Thomas, Brian Thomas, Becky Thomas, Rik Thomas, Bill Thomas, and Justin Bradam; step-grandchildren, Angela Cannefax, Kim Wallace, and Stacey McCurry; seven great-grandchildren, Cady, Andrew, Eli, Norah, Cortney, Savannah and Marcus; and seven step-great-grandchildren, Meagan, Marin, Ethan, Jared, Joshua, Jordan, and Caleb.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, April 25, 2011 also in the funeral home.
