Robert Glen Jones, age 83, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on January 12, 2026, after a short illness.  He was born on December 14, 1942, in Long Beach, California, to Glen and Betty (Samms) Jones, and grew up with two younger brothers: James and Thomas Alan Jones.

After Robert’s birth, the family settled in Springfield, Missouri, where he was raised.  He graduated from Central High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Southwest Missouri State College (now Missouri State University).  Upon completing his MBA at Drury College (now Drury University), he took a position as an industrial engineer for Kraft Foods in Springfield.  After a few years, Robert moved his family and spent the remainder of his career in Corporate Planning for Saudi ARAMCO in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.  He returned to Springfield upon his retirement at age 60.

Robert was married to his wife, Sue (Louzader) Jones for over 50 years. He was deeply proud of his four children and their spouses:  Kenneth Moore, Cari (Jones) Gray and her husband, Robert; Jeffery Jones and his wife, Debra; and Melissa (Jones) Harmon and her husband, James.  He greatly enjoyed watching his three grandchildren grow into adulthood: Rhonda Moore; Drew Lindsey, who is married to Erica; and Ethan Gray, who is engaged to Josie Linson.  He was also thrilled to have had four great-granddaughters whom he adored: Madison and Rebecca Taylor, and Beatrix and Margaux Lindsey.  Robert was also quite fond of his many nieces and nephews on both the Jones and Louzader sides of the family.

While living in Saudi Arabia, Robert had the opportunity to travel extensively with his family, visiting many destinations around the world.  He documented these adventures through photography, resulting in countless treasured memories that he savored throughout his life.  He also became an avid aquarist, maintaining several freshwater aquariums over the years, including a beloved oscar fish aptly named “Oscar.”

Robert’s favorite hobbies were reading and football.  Although he enjoyed a wide range of genres, science fiction was his favorite.  Wherever he went he was rarely without a book, ready to read when given the opportunity.  On Sundays, he could be found glued to the television watching football—especially the Green Bay Packers.  He shared his love of the game with his children and relished post-game analysis and discussion with them.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Kenneth.  Following cremation, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to accommodate family members traveling from outside the area.
