Robert Lawson Lovett (1937 – 2021) Robert Lawson Lovett had indomitable spirit. His zest for travel and adventure led him to enduring friendships from around the globe. As a conservationist, Robert’s passion in life was research and propagation of conifers – creating the Lovett Pinetums in Springfield, Missouri and in Lufkin, Texas.
Growing up in Scottsbluff, Nebraska was the foundation for his goodness. He attended college and medical school at the University of Iowa, with a residency in pathology at Kansas University Medical Center. Robert was a pathologist at Cox Medical Center for 25 years.
Robert is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dr. Ivan C. Lovett and Blanche L. Lovett. He is survived by his cherished wife Priya, his children Susan (husband Duane), Steven (wife Martha), Jill, John (wife Julie) and Paul, and his 10 grandchildren. He leaves behind his sister Susan (husband Clare) and his niece and nephew.
The family is grateful for the excellent care by Drs. Lehman Godwin and Mark Milne and the nursing and physician staff at Cox Medical Center.
There will be a private burial followed by a celebration of Robert’s life at a later date. Greenlawn Funeral Home East is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity.
Let every road
be a foggy road
and let me find them all
Let the hours fill
with adventure , and
let my legs ache
from the wandering;
I was built for this, and I’ve no use
for staying so still.
