Robert Ray Bolles passed into glory on September 8, 2020. He was born the 6th child and second son to Charles and Emily Burton Bolles on December 16, 1922 in Red Willow County, NE. He also attended elementary and high school in Red Willow County. He began junior college in McCook, NE, but left to become a naval officer at the end of World War II. On June 6, 1945, he married Virginia May Reynolds of McCook, NE, and they remained faithfully married, celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary this year. Robert went on to attend the University of Kansas and obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in meteorology from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. He was a Navy pilot and served in many duty stations around the world including three years in London, England, which the family was able to enjoy with him. He retired from the Navy in Long Beach, CA, in 1967 and had a multi-faceted career in real estate assessment. Robert was faithful in Christian service everywhere he found himself. He and Virginia maintained many ties with McCook, NE, returning there from 1992 through 2003. They retired to Maranatha Village, Springfield, MO, in 2003 where Virginia survives him. One daughter, Dianna Lynn Schertz, predeceased him in 1990. He is survived by his son Robert W (Peggy); four grandchildren, Stephanie (Willie) Bodger, Gary (Kristi) Schertz, Wesley (Kara) Schertz, Elanor Bolles; eight great-grandchildren; and many loving relatives from both the Bolles and Reynolds sides of the family. A service is planned on Friday, September 11, at 10:00 am at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3506 N National, Springfield, MO. There will be no visitation. Those wishing to attend are asked to wear masks.
