Robert Dean Sawyers, Springfield, MO.
On the evening of September 8, 2013, Bob passed away in his home, of natural causes. Bob was
91 years old, born on November 18, 1920.
Bob was a proud veteran of World War II. He served in both the United States Army and
retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant.
After his service to his country, he graduated from Drury College in Springfield, Mo. And
following his love of teaching, he worked for the Springfield School System until 1981, and
he retired at the age of 67 in Texas.
Bob had many interests, including travel, Louis L’Amour books, and his beloved Cardinals
Baseball Team.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Helen Sawyers, an infant daughter Carol Dean, parents
James and Rossie Sawyer, brothers William and Hugh Sawyer, sisters Irma Ruscio and
Genevieve Johnson, sister-in-law Helen Sawyer and brother-in-law Robert Ruscio.
Bob is survived by one son Blake Sawyers, step-daughters Diane, Susie, Raylene and Royce,
brother-in-law William Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.
A military graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at
Robberson Prairie Cemetery in Ebenezer, Mo.
Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
