Robert “Bob” Summers passed away on March 2, 2016 of lung cancer. Bob was born on March 30, 1931 in Oklahoma City, OK. He spent his young life in Lawton and Tulsa Oklahoma. He enlisted in the Navy when he was 17 and served for 5 years during the Korean Conflict. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M and moved to Albuquerque NM to work at Sandia Corporation, a division of the Atomic Energy System where he spent several years building and testing atomic bombs. He met and married his wife, Joyce L. Sliger on December 26,1959. In 1970 they moved to Springfield, MO, to attend Baptist Bible College, both graduating in 1973. Bob and Joyce have 3 children: Carin (Lowell) Yates, Becky (Jim) Carter, and Robin Page. All the children live in Springfield except Becky and her husband who have live in Alaska. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great – grandchildren. Bob was saved in 1974 and served the Lord until his health declined. Visitation will be Monday March 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with service at 10:30 a.m. in Greenlawn South Funeral Home. Burial will be Tuesday March 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice.
