Roger Huffman, age 76, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on December 21, 2024, at home with family by his side. Roger was born to Ed Huffman and Faye Reynolds Huffman on September 25, 1948. He was raised in Neosho, Missouri, and graduated from Neosho High School in 1966. Roger was united in marriage to Linda Jo Potter on June 7, 1982, in Springfield, Missouri. Roger and Linda Huffman were married for 42 years before Roger’s untimely passing on December 21, 2024. Roger Huffman proudly served in the United States Army for a number of years before his honorable discharge. The couple was blessed with four children: Chadd, Coulter, Connor, and Michelle.
Roger was employed for 35 years as an officer of the law in Neosho, Lawrence County, Greene County, the Region 2 Narcotics Bureau, and the Federal Medical Center, where he met his wife, Linda. He then served as a bailiff for Judge Holden, and lastly, he retired after being director of safety and security for Harry Cooper Supply and Joplin Supply. Roger was also an owner-operator of a limousine business and also worked in a process server business. This left him with minimal free time but when he had it, he loved to go flea market shopping with his wife Linda. He loved his time owning the limo company where he also did security for Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and many other stars. Roger will be remembered as a friendly, funny, ornery, social butterfly who loved to just talk to anyone he would come into contact in public. He leaves behind a legacy of being a proud member of the armed forces and law enforcement and will be remembered as a dedicated and loving family man who was filled with immeasurable joy from his wife and children. He will also be remembered for his love of music and his legendary seventeen-minute drum solo he played In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.
Roger Huffman was preceded in death by father, Ed Huffman; mother, Faye Huffman; brother, Roy Huffman; and son, Connor Huffman. He is survived by his wife, Linda Huffman; sons, Chadd and Coulter; daughter, Michelle Huffman; grandchildren, Joslyn Shae Huffman, Scott and Richard Swadley, Shelby and Jodi Swadley; and sister, Debbie Huffman.
Roger’s family will host a visitation on Thursday, December 27, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A funeral service for Roger will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Immediately following his service, Roger will be laid to rest with full military honors in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Roger’s memory to the Ozark Dialysis Services located at 1007 E Kearney Street in Springfield (417-269-8400).
