Ronald Dean Treadway was born in Ozark, Missouri on October 9, 1938, to Everett Pierce Treadway and Jewel Maude Maples.
Ron is survived by his wife of 66 years, Peggy (Stubbs), daughter Jennifer (Scott) Walburn and daughter Sara Collie; grandsons Joshua (Jenna) Walburn and Jacob (Monica) Walburn; great grandchildren Madeleine Edwards and Atticus Walburn; one sister, Iris (Steve) Hardison; sisters-in-law Patty (Max) McKee; Linda Gann and brother-in-law Rick Melton; nieces Madeline, Sheila, Missy, Samantha, Amy and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Helen McAnally Treadway; three brothers John, Douglas and James; and son-in-law Michael Collie; mother and father-in-law Loetta and Fred Stubbs, sister-in-law Kay Melton, brother-in-law Jerry Gann, and nephew Bradley Gann.
Ron was blessed to grow up in the Galloway community where his family operated the Treadway Market for 40 years.
Ron graduated from Central High School in Springfield, Missouri in 1956. He then joined the United States Marine Corps receiving basic training in San Diego, California and serving in the reserves for seven years. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University (MSU) in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. In addition, he received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Drury University in 1987.
He was baptized February 16, 1947, in the James River and became a member of the Galloway Baptist Church. Ron was a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where over the years he served as an usher, elder, trustee, and president.
Ron began a 32-year career at Kraft General Foods as an industrial engineer and retired in June 1996 after serving as plant manager at their locations in Lowville, New York; Springfield, Missouri; Kendallville, Indiana and Champaign, Illinois.
He enjoyed Christian fellowship in the Eckhoff Bible Study Group and River Cards. Ron was also a longtime volunteer at Crosslines. He excelled in creating art and wood working projects for his family and friends. As a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, he spent many recent days supporting their Springfield Cardinals. He enjoyed spending time with his “breakfast buddies”; Chester McArthur, Paul Holland, and the late Don Chasteen, and his “lunch guys”; Art Rosenkoetter and Ken Stimson.
