Ronald Eugene Hanes, age 73, and Onna Dorene Hanes, 71, both of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 in their home. Ronald was born August 18, 1942, in Springfield, MO. Onna was born August 28, 1944, in Springfield, MO. Ronald and Onna were united in marriage on March 11, 1961 in Ozark, MO. Ronald retired from Springfield City Utilities after over thirty-five year of service. Onna retired from Stella’s Beauty Shop in 2005. They will always be remembered by the community for their Christmas display every year at their house. Friends and family will always remember their great Super Bowl parties. They were lifetime members of Ozark Gem and Minerals Club.
They were preceded in death by their parents; four brothers; and one sister. They are survived by one son, Mike Hanes and wife Cathy, Springfield, MO; two grandsons, Derek and Dillon Hanes, both of Springfield; one granddaughter, Teresa Thompson, Springfield; one great-granddaughter, Reagan Thompson, Springfield; and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of their lives will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with a dinner to follow at 5:00 p.m. at Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Derek and Dillon Hanes College Fund in care of Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
