Ronald Herbert Jones, age 82, of Springfield, MO, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at Westside Health Care. He was born March 9, 1930, in Clinton, North Carolina, to Herbert and Nancy (Parker) Jones. He had served in the United States Air Force. Ronald retired from Springfield Fire Department in 1989. He loved to play golf, as well as all types of music, especially gospel . He and Ferol loved to travel the United States. Ronald was a member of the fire fighters retirement club. He taught his children to play golf, and took them to their ball games and trout farm fishing. Ronald made the chili for the Pathways United Methodist Church for over thirty years with his secret recipe, which he kept in his billfold. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Royce Jones and Robert Jones. He is survived by his wife, Ferol Jones; a son David Jones; a daughter Nance McFarland; six grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplain Franklin Reagan officiating. Burial will be held in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8: 00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to The National Alzheimer’s Foundation.
