Ronald Ray Raney, 71, Springfield, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009, in his home. He was born in Norwood, Mo., on August 9, 1937. Ronald was a 1955 graduate of Hartville High School. He served in the Army beginning in 1956, serving two years on active duty in Germany, plus four years in the Reserves. He was the owner of Springfield Auto Sales for over 45 years. He wad united in marriage to Norma Raney on August 15, 1958, in Ava, Mo. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church on E. Catalpa. He was a member of various car clubs and organized shows and travel. He enjoyed custom cars and attending shows locally and out of state. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Ova R. Raney (father) and Mozel (Ball) Raney. He is survived by his wife, Norma “Jean” Raney; numerous cousins; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law and spouses; and many close friends and business associates. Visitation with memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 2, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, in Thomas Cemetery, Norwood, Mo. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
