Ronnie Lynn Pitts, age 72, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away on January 9, 2026. Ron went peacefully to be with the Lord while in his home being cared for by his family.
Ron was born in Wichita, Kansas, on May 5, 1953, to Lloyd and Pearl Pitts. He grew up in Wichita, graduating from Wichita South High School in 1971. After high school he attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri where he met and married Terri Jacobs Pitts on June 2, 1973. Graduating from Bible college and becoming a licensed minister in 1975, they moved to Alabama where they started their family of 2 children and began working full time in ministry for the Assemblies of God. Ron became an ordained minister in 1978 and continued working in ministry for the remainder of his life. Over the course of that time Ron and his family ministered in Alabama, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Honduras pastoring and building churches. Ron also had the privilege of working with International Correspondence Institute, Global University, and Life Publishers (Fire Bible) where he mentored future pastors, helped create a university Spanish pastoral curriculum, and traveled the globe sharing many translations of the Fire Bible. Ron had a love of music, bird watching, puzzles, memorizing scripture, and sharing time and stories with his family and friends. He was kind, caring, humorous, and had a gentle temperament. Ron was a pastor not only to those in the churches he led and students he mentored, but to all those he considered family and friends. He leaves a legacy of pastors, missionaries, writers, and lovers of the Word. His own faith and passion for the Lord can be seen in so many that have had the privilege to call him brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Pearl Pitts. He is survived by his wife Terri Jacobs Pitts, his 2 daughters and their families, Lisa (David) Loeffelholz, and Lori (Casey) Shirkey, and 5 grandchildren, Lindsay, Megan, Lauren Loeffelholz, Tyler, and Natalie Shirkey, as well as his brothers Darrel Pitts and Richard Pitts.
