Rose Marie Blixt age 57, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at her home in Branson, Missouri. She was born August 14,1952 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She is survived by husband Jerry Blixt, children Nathan Blixt and Rachel Whitwam, brother Tim Schmaltz and sisters Mary Pinard, Marge Schmierer, Susan Anderson and Ann Coppock. Rose recently retired from the University of Minnesota after 34 years of service. At the time of her retirement she was the Financial Director for the University’s College of Design. Rose loved reading, movies and all things Disney. Friends and family consistently note her strength, kindness, sense of humor and ability to handle stressful situations with a sense of ease. She remained courageous and optimistic during her nine-month battle with cancer. Words cannot describe how much we will miss Rose. She remains forever in our hearts. A celebration of Rose’s life will be held at the Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota; 333 East River Road, Minneapolis, MN 55455 on Tuesday, October 27, 2009. Memorials preferred to one of the following U of M units: College of Design, Department of Postsecondary Teaching and Learning, Weisman Art Museum, College of Continuing Education, or Northrop Auditorium.
