Ruby (Gail) Philbeck passed away at the age of 90, on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. She was born November 27, 1921, in Tiffin (St. Clair County) MO. Gail graduated from Springfield High School in 1939 and married William Thomas (Bill) Philbeck that same year. Gail was the loving mother of four boys who began full-time employment in the early 1960’s. Her work career included positions as a nurse assistant at Tulsa Osteopathic Hospital; health store clerk at Evans Health Store, Springfield; and ward secretary in surgery and the nursing administration office for Cox Medical Center. Gail’s passions included serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her church, the Springfield 7th-day Adventist Church; traveling to visit with family and friends; baby-sitting grandchildren and others; and treating by the Golden Rule those whom she knew well or those who by chance crossed her path. Gail was preceded in death by her husband of 72, years, Bill; Clarence and Eva DeMoss Hines; two brothers, Leslie and Kenneth Hines; her dearest of sisters, Edna (Eddie) Hines Scott Barns; and quite recently, her dear life-long friend, Mary Jones. She is survived by many nieces and nephews; her four sons, Tom Philbeck of Springfield, Mike Philbeck and wife, Connie, of Tulsa, OK, Larry Philbeck and wife, Dorrie, of Keene, TX, and Don Philbeck of Kansas City, MO. Gail is also survived by 11, grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W. Battlefield, Springfield, MO.
