Russell Oliver Weller Jr., age 64, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on July 10th, 2023 at Cox South Hospital after his 3-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Russell was born on April 12, 1959 to Russell Weller Sr. and Mabel Weller near St. Clair County, Illinois on Scott Air Force base. After graduating high school, he served in the United States Army before being honorably discharged 3 years later. Russell then moved to Springfield, Missouri and went to work at Cox Health in the education, technology, and corporate communications departments for 35 years. He was an active member of the James River Church and enjoyed being outdoors riding bicycles, swimming, and running.

Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mabel Weller. He is survived by his son, Spencer C. Weller (Springfield, Missouri), Spencer’s mother, Tammy L. Lewis (Springfield, Missouri), as well as many other friends and family that have loved and cared for him over the years.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 14th, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East and private burial at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations be made to the Cox Health Foundation Cancer fund.
