Ruth Evelyn Simpson of Fair Grove, Missouri, a beloved mother, skilled homemaker, and diligent food service worker, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023, in Lebanon, Missouri. She was born on November 19, 1933, in Springfield, Missouri, to Dale and Hazel (Hammond) Ball. Ruth was a dedicated individual who touched the lives of those around her in countless ways. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Earl Simpson on July 7, 1956. From this union, four children were born, Lloyd, Lester, Leslie, and Kathy.
Ruth’s warm presence and nurturing spirit made her a cherished figure in her community. Through the years, she worked tirelessly in various restaurants throughout Missouri’s hospitality industry, making a lasting impact with her exceptional service and delicious creations. Her dedication to her profession was matched only by her unwavering devotion to her family.
As a mother, Ruth excelled beyond measure. She devoted her life to raising her children and ensuring their happiness and wellbeing. Survived by her sons, Leslie Simpson and Lester Simpson, her daughter Kathy Danko; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren. Ruth’s legacy thrives through the love and values she instilled in each of them. She led by example, teaching them the importance of hard work, kindness, and perseverance.
In her free time, Ruth found solace and joy in her beloved hobbies. Knitting and crocheting were not just skills for her; they were a form of expression, an art she mastered to perfection. Countless Afghan blankets, meticulously crafted with love, were bestowed upon her loved ones, providing warmth and comfort for generations to come. Each stitch carried her love and the memories she shared with those she held dear.
Ruth’s compassion and selflessness will be eternally treasured by her family and friends. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the memories of her gentle smile, her comforting embrace, and her unwavering support will forever reside in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents; husband of 55 years, Lloyd Earl Simpson; and son, Lloyd R. Simpson, Jr., who passed in 2020.
Ruth’s family will receive visitors from 10:00-11:00 am On Monday, September 18, 2023, in Greenlawn Funeral Home, North. Funeral services to celebrate Ruth’s life will follow at 11:00 am, also in the funeral home. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share their memories of Ruth during this time of reflection.
Ruth Evelyn Simpson leaves behind a profound legacy of love, strength, and resilience. By embodying kindness and dedication, she taught us the true essence of a life well-lived.
