Ruth “Elaine” Roecker Burchett, 68 of Branson, Missouri passed away December 22, 2019 in Springfield, MO. Elaine was born October 11, 1951 in Ottawa, Kansas to Everett and Ruth Counselman Roecker.
Elaine graduated from Emporia State with a degree in teaching but spent most of her early career working at Contel where she met her husband Larry in 1982. When the family relocated to Branson in 1990, Elaine began her 20+ year career with the State of Missouri where she retired in 2012. In her spare time, Elaine enjoyed doing puzzles and crosswords, reading mystery novels, and watching the Chiefs or college basketball, but what brought her the most joy was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she spent countless hours reading them stories, playing games with them or when they were younger just talking to them while they took a bath. She loved family gatherings, especially those where she could reminisce with her siblings and cousins. She went out of her way to make everyone feel special and was always ready with a listening ear, a kind word or a warm hug.
She is survived by her husband Larry Burchett of the home. Daughters Rhonda (Jim) Swails of Overland Park, Kansas, Becky (Chris) Aumiller of Columbia, Missouri. Sons Jason (Jennifer) Burchett of Mckinney, Texas and Jeremy (Andrea) Burchett of Weaverville, North Carolina.
Grandchildren: Caleb Burchett, Benjamin Aumiller, Connor Burchett, Grace Aumiller, Cooper Burchett, Sam Swails, Kate Swails, Clara Burchett, Ella Swails, and Wyatt Burchett.
Her sisters and brother: Janis Modlin, of Missouri, Barb Roecker of Kansas, Teresa (Mike) Hermeck of Kansas, Larry Roecker of Kansas and Karen Geiger of Kansas and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Everett and Ruth Roecker, step-mother Geneva Roecker and grandson Cyrus Burchett.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday December 28, 2019 at the Church of Christ, 101 S Lincoln, Fontana, Kansas at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
