Ruth Jeanne Adams Olszewski, age 91, of Strafford, Missouri, passed away on May 7, 2024, after a brief illness in her home surrounded by family. Jeanne was born to Robert B. Adams and Mary Fox Adams on May 25, 1932, in Rahway, New Jersey. She was blessed with three children, Jesse John, Donnamarie, and Jacqueline Maria.
Jeanne lived in Colonia, New Jersey, before relocating to Strafford, Missouri, in 1976, where she was a land manager for J.K. Latimer. She enjoyed living on the family farm, in her ranch home, next to her loved ones. She enjoyed family game nights, winning at Canasta, knitting, working outdoors, traveling, and occasionally a visit to the casino. One phone call from her and you knew you were in for hours of entertainment. Jeanne O’s spaghetti and meatballs were legendary. Traditionally she cooked the sauce all night, setting an alarm so she could get up to stir the simmering pot. Mumsy’s secret recipe will never be duplicated because it was a labor of love. “Gigi” got the most fulfillment in spending time with her children and grandchildren attending events, or simply spending the day together. She was often described as an independent and fun mother/grandmother who lived devoutly in her faith.
She is survived by her daughters, Donnamarie and husband Patrick Collins of New Jersey and Jacqueline Maria and husband John Anthony Avers of Strafford; two grandchildren, Lauren Marie and husband James Preston Wilson and Joshua Stanley and wife Ashton Nicole Avers; two great-grandchildren, Thomas Milan Wilson and Madison Faith Avers also of Strafford; along with many nieces, nephews, and her beloved cousin, Rhys Petty.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley H. Olszewski; son, Jesse John, beloved mother, Mary Fox Adams; father, Robert B Adams; brother, Robert W Adams; sisters, Barbara L. Bauer and Patricia E. Adams; and stepdaughter, Barbara C. Domalewski.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, May 15, 2024, 10:00 am, also at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
A private graveside service for family and close friends is scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2024, 2:00 pm, at Gate of Heaven in Hanover, New Jersey. Guests are asked to gather at Hancliffe Funeral Home at 1:30 pm prior to the 2:00 pm service at Gate of Heaven.
