Ruth Marie Elliott, age 80, of Springfield, MO., passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in her home. She was born January 30, 1930, in Park Rapids, MN., to Frank and Theresa (Solinger) Neumann. She was a R.N. serving with the Ozarks Community Hospital and Lakeland Hospital. She and Howard converted an old school bus to the ‘nine-o-vus’ and traveled all over the Western states. Ruth was a very skilled seamstress, loved to knit and crochet, make clothes for her children, and bake banana bread, cinnamon bread and hot apple strudel.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Carl Neumann, and her mother, Theresa Mary Neumann.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Elliott, Springfield, a daughter Deborah McKee, Springfield, a son, Jeffrey (Vickie) Elliott of Springfield, a daughter, Rosalie (George) Klein, Phillipsburg, a daughter, Stephanie Elliott, Springfield, a daughter, Julie (Ed) Devol, Duncan, Oklahoma, a son, Christopher (Valerie) Elliott of Moore, Oklahoma, a daughter Mary (Joe) Reyelts of Mt. Vernon, MO, 14 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by a brother, Alfred (Pat) Neumann, Park Rapids, MN., a sister, Anita (Doug) Dearhamer, Bruce, WI.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church, 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2010, with Father Dennis Daugherty officiating. Burial will be follow in Resurrection Cemetery. No formal visitation is scheduled. However, the family will gather at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
