Sam Boatman, 83 , of Morrisville, MO., passed away surrounded by his family, Saturday, October 16, 2010 after a long illness.
Sam was born December 24, 1926 to the late Samuel J. Boatman and Opal E. Greathouse, in Ava, Mo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Huba Cruse of Pleasant Hope, MO., Madra Loretta Williams of St. Joseph, Mo., and Ruby Lea Harrison of Rogers, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Boatman, of Morrisville, MO., brother, Bill Boatman of Effingham, Kan., and sister, Betty Jo Tucker, of Pleasant Hope, MO., four children, James Edgmond, of Morrisville, Michael Boatman, of Walnut Grove, Beverly Smith, of Battlefield, and Dennis Boatman of Morrisville, seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Sam retired from Conco Concrete of Springfield, where he delivered concrete for many years. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He loved the outdoors. Later in life he returned to farming, raising cattle. He loved sunday afternoon drives in the country with family. He was also survived by his border collie, Bart. Sam served his country during WWII, stationed in San Diego, California.
A funeral service will be Friday, October 22, 2010, 2 P.M. at Greenlawn North, Springfield, Mo. A visitation will be held one hour prior.
