Sherman L Lawler, 80, of Springfield, Mo., passed away September 26, 2010 at Springfield Rehab & Health Care.
As a career he loved truck driving and retired from Kraft Foods in his early 60’s.
He was wed to Dixie Sue (Pottenger) on October 23, 1964 in Boone County Ark. He was an active member of Gate of the Temple Lodge of Springfield (with over 50 years), Henderson Lodge of Rogersville, Scottish Rite Temple of Joplin, and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine of Springfield. His hobbies included being an active member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine TR3 Unit and Shrine Hospital Dad’s.
He was an Avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed listening to Bass Country Radio while reading his morning paper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Sue; father, George Burgess Lawler; Mother, Mary Alice (Benton) Lawler; sisters, Ima Jeanette Cope of Hartville and Phillis JoAnn Lemons of Hartville; and two infant brothers.
He is survived by sons, Danny L Lawler and wife Carla of Strafford, Mo., Russell G Lawler of Springfield, Mo., and Eddie L Tomlinson of Palm Coast, Fla.; daughter, Theresa L Pollard and husband Nick of Springfield, Mo.; brothers, Farris Bugress and wife Irene Lawler of Mountain Grove, Mo., William Benton and wife Jeannine Lawler of West Memphis Ark, and George Dean and wife Patty Lawler of Lake of the Ozarks; sisters, Venita Faye & husband Melvin Claxton of Hartville Mo., Karen Jean & husband Kenney Burney of Mountain Grove, Mo.; grandchildren; Laura Pfister and husband Tim of Battleground Wash., Garen Gilmore and wife Abbi of Springfield Mo., Kurtis Lawler Bremerton, Wash., Landon Tomlinson, Springfield, Mo., and Taylor Tomlinson, Springfield, Mo.; great grandchildren; Nicholas Pfister, Jonathan Pfister, Kyle Pfister, all of Battleground, Wash; Brady Gilmore, and Thomas Gilmore of Springfield, Mo.
Visitation will be held in Greenlawn Funeral Home East on September 30, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. with Masonic Services commencing at 7p.m.
Services will be held in Greenlawn East October 2, 2010 at 11 a.m. with interment following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens North.
The Family suggests all Donations be made to The Shriners Children’s Hospital.
