Shirley (Lee) Mullen (85), passed away 25, February 2021 in Springfield, MO. She was born on a cold winter’s night, in Bois D’Arc, MO February 4, 1936, to Verdie and Edna (Mitchell) Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, Anna Elizabeth Glidewell and brother-in-law Jim Glidewell.
She graduated eighth grade from Nichols School, and Willard High School in 1954. She was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior. NHS is based on character, service, scholarship, and leadership. She graduated from SMS (MSU) in 1958 with a degree in most frequently taught business subjects.
She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Don; they were married on August 29, 1957. A son, Bruce and wife Karen Mullen, two granddaughters, Andrea Stark and husband Dereck, Bethany Martinez and husband Coltin, seven great-grandchildren, three step grandsons, Jeff and wife Jamie Raab, Brian and Tim Raab; a niece, Amy and husband Dan Crouch, and a nephew Eric and wife Jennifer and family.
She rests in the promise of Ephesians 2:8-9; “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Visitation will be one hour before service from 1-2pm Monday, March 1, 2021. The funeral service will be March 1 2021, 2pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Pastor John Bingham and Pastor Cecil Tolbert will be officiating the service. My HOPE is in the LORD.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gideons.
