Shirley Mae (Kneeland) Murr, age 87 of Nixa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 15th, 2023 at Township Assisted Living Facility .
Shirley was born February 27, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan to George and Catherine Kneeland. Shirley was a graduate of Redford Union High School. She then graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing. She was united in marriage to Laverne W. Murr on November 12th, 1960, in Choteau Montana. Shirley retired as a RN from Hospice Compassus at the age of 80, after 20 years of ministry. She enjoyed a variety of lifelong friends. Her family was her love. She was a wonderful homemaker, she had big gardens & canned many foods. She was a wonderful cook & baker. Watching her grands and great grands decorating her homemade cookies, decorating Easter eggs or just running amuck brought her joy. She loved the mountains and traveling through them. She was a member of River Stone Fellowship Church in Nixa. She was a wise counselor, prayer warrior & intercessor who loved to help others.
Survivors include her three children, Michael Murr and wife Brenda; Kathryn Berg and husband Timothy, David Murr and wife Stephanie, and 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister Beverly (Kneeland) Patrick; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Laverne Murr; parents, George and Catherine Kneeland; and sisters Marilyn (Kneeland) Pickett and Judith Kneeland
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be at 3pm, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
