Sondra Lorenz, age 69, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009, after 18 year battle with cancer. She was born July 14, 1940, in Formosa, Ark., to Jack and Ruth (Andrew) Hammett. Her parents; and two sisters, Charlene Overfelt and Georgia Murphy, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Fred Lorenz of Springfield, Mo.; daughter Pamela Williams and husband, Ronnie of Olive Branch, Miss.; daughter Deborah Meinsen and husband, Jim of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Daniel Meinsen, Alex Williams, Rebekah Meinsen and Jake Williams; sister Sue Lann and husband, DeWayne of East Wenatchee, Wash.; brother Farrell Hammett of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Sondra started Caring Creations, and with help from many others, provided cancer caps and toys for cancer patients. She loved her family and her grandchildren. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed growing flowers and herbs. Sondra was talented in handwork including embroidery and crocheting. Funeral services will be held in Water Mill Church of Christ, with Bill McFarland and Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
