Mr. Stanford L. White, Jr. age 85 years, of Springfield MO., passed away Monday February 3, 2014 at the Neighborhoods at Quail Creek. Stan was born December 15, 1928, in French Camp, California, the son of Stanford L. and Elsie Marie (Scrivener) White. He was married on December 10, 1983 to Ruby Jewel Pfeifer and she survives at the home.
Stan served his country for decades retiring from the military as a First Sergeant. He volunteered as a Reserve Deputy for the Greene County Sheriff’s Department for a number of years and worked full time for Greene County in the road and bridge department.
After his retirement from Green County, Stan and Ruby toured the country in their RV and became “snowbirds” in Corpus Christi, Texas where he enjoyed surf fishing. Stan was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shrine. He had a life-long passion for motorcycles and airplanes. Stan was very mechanically inclined and always seemed to be tinkering and working on projects around the house.
In addition to his wife, Stan is survived by a son and a daughter: Chester L. White and his wife Kathy of Jefferson City, MO., and ReDeanna J. White of Dothan, AL., four grandchildren; Jeffrey White of Lake Ozark, MO., Carolyn White of Kansas City, MO., Charles White of Bagram AFB, Afghanistan, Christina White of Jefferson City, two half- sisters; Pamela Morgan of Mexico, MO., and Patsy Sang of Warrenton, MO., two step sisters and one step brother; Elsie Brown of Sparta, MO., Sharon Martin of Rogersville MO, and Jim Brownd of Rogersville, MO.; a sister-in-law, Judy McIntosh of Nixa, MO., as well her children, Greg and Cindy,; four step children and ten step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Margaret; a half- brother Gerald McIntosh and a step sister; Gladys Brownd.
Graveside funeral services and internment will be held at Greenlawn North Cemetery in Springfield, MO., with Andrew Brown officiating at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014.
