Stephana Gay Worth, 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Maranatha Village.
She was born October 16, 1925 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Claude and Margaret Borden. She attended school in Roselle Park and received her bachelor’s degree at Montclair State University, with a major in French and a minor in Music and Elementary Education.
Gay worked as a bookkeeper in a bank, a teacher, a tutor for children and adults with special needs, a crisis intervention counselor, and a secretary for 2nd Presbyterian Church and Calvary Tabernacle in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Among her many volunteer activities, Gay sang in the church choir and regularly sent dozens of hand-made greeting cards to loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Worth.
Gay is survived by 1 daughter, Claudia Szalapski and husband James; 2 sons, Richard Worth and wife Jackie, and Fredrick Worth and wife Beth; 4 grandchildren, Mark Worth and wife Debra, Michael Szalapski, Tommy Szalapski and wife Jennifer, Robert Szalapski and wife Erin; 9 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Natalia and Valerie Worth, and Jocelyn, Malachi, Elsie, Abner, Tiernan and Kestrel Szalapski.
There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, April 23, 2016, 1:00pm, at Maranatha Village Chapel.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
