Steve Miles Turner passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at home. He was born on December 10, 1964, in Westminster, California to Lena Faye Call Turner and Gary Gene Turner. When he was still in school, the family moved back to Missouri. Steve graduated from Willard High School in 1982. He also attended Drury College. Steve had a good work ethic, having a job since his early teenage years. He worked for St John’s hospital (Mercy) for 25 years, and with Missouri State University for 20 years before having to retire due to his health.

He married Marcia on July 23, 1988, and together they raised a family in Springfield, Missouri.

Steve was a person of many talents. He had a dark room where he was able to develop photographs, before everything became digital, and was a talented photographer. He was very artistic, making drawings and woodburning by hand, and finding enjoyable time making projects with his circuit to give as gifts to his family, friends, and caregivers. His favorite past times included photography, collecting baseball cards, and enjoying times with his wife, kids, and grandchildren.

He was a very caring and kind person, often helping his neighbors clear off their driveways after a snowstorm, or picking up coworkers in bad weather, helping to pull stranded motorist out of ditches, or paying or a lone elderly person’s restaurant meal. He was the person his parents relied on for decades, always there to help them, mowing for them, taking them to doctors’ appointments, or to the hospital, taking them to the grocery store, helping his parents with their Route 66 gas station project. He was always willing to help everyone.

Steve was a Christian, and a member of River Bluff Fellowship. His strong faith carried him throughout his life and in dealing with health issues.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia, son Nathaniel (Margaret), daughter Ashley Posa (Cody) and granddaughter Isabella Posa, grandson to be born soon Posa, and granddaughter Angelica Turner, his sister-in-law Cheryl Manes, and brother-in-law Mike Manes.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tiriveedhi and her amazing team, Dr. Alumno and her staff, the nurses on 7A at Mercy, many friends who helped with his care, including Pat Wells, Missy Myers, Sherri Clift, Kelly Schupbach, Margaret Bush, and Terry Sonderman. Also thank you to Compassus Hospice for their care and support.
