I had not learned of Steve's untimely death until a couple of days ago. My heart goes out to your family. Steve was such a good guy. One of my memories is that Steve was an ace accounting student. He was among the first group of accounting students at Pleasant Hope to have the opportunity to take Accounting II as dual credit (receiving college credit and high school credit). One of the requirements was that our high school students had to take the final exam prepared by the college instructor. As the high school teacher I had the right to see that exam and administer it at the high school. Since this was our first dual credit experience, and I was pretty sure my students were prepared, I asked that my students take the exam at the college and I declined seeing the exam. I didn't want there to be any way to question our integrity. Well, Steve had the top score on that exam, and that paved the way for dual credit at Pleasant Hope. My prayers are with your family.

I just found out today. I worked with Steve at the KC FRB, and he was one of the truly finest men I ever knew. He was always kind and considerate of others. Hearing about his passing made me cry. Thankfully, he is with the Lord, and his family will see him again.

I had the honor of working with Steve periodically over the last several years, as well as recently. I have been fortunate to meet many talented and good people over my career. Steve will always stand out as having an exceptional combination of traits - very talented, committed to all colleagues, respectful, humble and kind. I believe he inspired many through his example. Above all, I will remember his abundant love for his immediate family, his parents, and everyone else in his family.
Debra Hutchinson left a message on January 25, 2022:
I had the pleasure of working with Steve for a short time. His calm demeanor in often challenging situations was a personality trait that greatly impacted me. I will return to that memory of Steve every time I am in one of those challenging situations. My sympathy to the family.

Kenneth W England left a message on January 24, 2022:
tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you care for me, and how much I care for you, and each time that you think of me I know you'll miss me too; But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in heaven far above, and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye, for all life, I'd always thought I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for and so much yet to do. it seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you. I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had. If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for a while, I'd say goodbye and hug you and maybe see you smile. But then I fully realized that this could never be, for emptiness and memories would take the place of me. And when I thought of worldly things that I'd miss come tomorrow. I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through Heaven's gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne, He said, "This is eternity and all I've promised you, Today your life on earth is past but here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last. and since each day's the same, there's no longing for the past. But you have been so faithful, so trusting, so true. Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do. And you have been forgiven and now, at last, you're free. So won't you come and take my hand and share my life with me?" So if tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, please know I'm in your heart.

I had the pleasure of working with Steve at Metro Bank. Steve was a kind and patient person who always took a minute to chat and guide me on some tough questions. I'll never forget the day he let me drive his Camaro. I am a Camaro fan so it was special. When we got back to the parking lot I let him drive mine. He warned me ahead of time it had been awhile since he drove manual and I almost got whiplash but we laughed. Prayers to the family who loved Steve so dearly as he touched many lives.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. I had the honor and privilege to work with Steve at Customers Bank and considered him a friend. I will miss our phone calls, football talk and catch-up lunches. Steve was a great guy and a person of high quality. The good news, Steve is in a much better place. I have no doubt that when Steve met Jesus, Jesus said, “well done, my good and faithful servant!”

To the entire Cribbs family, my deepest condolences for your loss. I worked with Steve in the Executive Offices of Metro Bancorp for several years and we became good friends there and continued to be so over the past 6 years. Steve was a wonderful, kind and caring person who always had a positive outlook on every situation. We loved to discuss sports a lot, but mostly we talked about our families. I know how much he loved Tricia, Ethan and Lauren and I pray for God's comfort for you at this most difficult time. I will miss him tremendously.
