Steven “Steve” Cribbs, age 44, of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident, on January 15, 2022. He was born on January 20, 1977, in Springfield, Missouri to Steve and Debbie Cribbs. 

Steve was saved and baptized at an early age at his family’s church, Eudora Baptist. One of his favorite hymns was Amazing Grace and he was often heard singing it. 

Steve attended school at Pleasant Hope Schools from Kindergarten through graduation and graduated as the valedictorian of the class of 1995. He had a passion for FFA and was the recipient of the State and American FFA Degree. He later attended Missouri State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business and Finance. With this degree, Steve went on to work in banking for more than twenty years and most recently worked as a Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer with Tompkins Financial and Trust Corporation.

He married his high school sweetheart, Tricia Vines. The pair would later become the proud parents of their two children, Ethan Lee Cribbs, age 20, and Lauren Avery Cribbs, age 18. Steven had a special bond with each of his children. Ethan loved spending weekends alone with his dad and Steve was always the favorite chaperone on Ethan’s school trips, doing all the fun stuff with the kids. Steve enjoyed watching his “Lo”, Lauren, cheer and even participated in some fun cheer events with her. He loved taking selfies with each of them and listening to music turned up loud. He was always up for something fun and loved cooking, having family dance parties in the living room, going to the lake, or just hanging out. 

Steve was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan who experienced and enjoyed all aspects of KC life such as barbecue, tailgating, and KC Power and Light District. Even after moving out of state, he frequently returned to watch his favorite teams. He and Ethan even drove all night, after the Royals won the World Series, to be the first ones at the parade in Kansas City, and then turned around and drove all the way back home to Pennsylvania. 

He was a firm believer in getting the most out of life and experiencing new things every day and frequently said, “everything will be okay.” Though he enjoyed celebrating life, Steve’s drive and work ethic made him a respected member of his community. Many people looked up to Steve and his accomplishments, as well as his love for family and friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents, Horace and Genevieve Cribbs, and Joe Frank and Carrye Leith; and his beloved dog, Dolce.

His legacy lives on through his wife of 22 years, Tricia and their two children, Ethan and Lauren of Hummelstown, PA; his parents, Steve and Debbie of Brighton, MO; A sister, Amy Crandall and husband Jason of Fair Grove, MO; Brother, Tyler Cribbs and wife Kristi of Fair Grove, MO; Six nieces, Taylor and Zoe Cribbs, Gracie, Allie and Karlie Crandall, and Emma Reynolds; and nephew, Eli Reynolds; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

On Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Eudora Baptist Church in Walnut Grove, MO the family would like to greet those who loved Steve at a visitation from 2:00 to 3:00. A Memorial Service will then begin at 3 PM. A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Brighton Cemetery in Brighton, MO at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Steve by spending time with family and appreciating your blessings.
