Steven W. Kasper, known to all who loved him as Steve, passed away on March 18, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on April 27, 1965, in Chicago, Steve lived his final years in Battlefield, Missouri, surrounded by the people who meant the most to him. Steve was a proud United States Marine, serving his country with the same quiet dedication and loyalty that defined every part of his life. After his time in the military, he built a life centered around family and hard work. He married Kim Kasper, the love of his life, and together they created a home filled with warmth and devotion. Becoming a father to his two children, Bre-Anna and Curtis, was one of his greatest joys, and becoming a grandpa was the next best thing. Steve was an incredibly proud grandpa to four grandchildren: Hadley, Myles, Ellie, and Rhett. Those who knew Steve knew a man who was calm, humble, and fiercely loyal. He was the kind of person who would do anything for the people he loved, no questions asked. He didn’t need to be the loudest voice in the room; his actions always spoke volumes. Steve had a deep love for reading, especially anything related to history, and he enjoyed settling in for a good movie. Steve also enjoyed a good card game with family. He found freedom on his motorcycle and peace in a solid workout. But more than anything, he treasured time spent with his kids and grandkids, soaking in the everyday moments that made life rich. Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kim Kasper. He is survived by his daughter, Bre-Anna Burks (Chad) and their children, Hadley, Myles, Ellie, and Rhett; his son, Curtis Kasper; his mother-in-law, Martha Dameron; his father-in-law, Bobby Dameron; and his brother, Jeff Kasper (Christi) and their children, Gretchen, Sara, and Emily. Steve was a blessed man, loved by many, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace.
The funeral service and burial will be held on Friday, March 27th, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3506 N. National Ave, Springfield, MO 65803.
The family is so grateful for the love and support received from friends and family during this time. In Steve’s spirit, may we all remember to “appreciate this life, it’s not too late to learn.
