Rev. Stewart Harold Robinson joined his beloved wife, firstborn child, and namesake grandson in their heavenly home at 10:55 p.m., April 11, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family and the caring staff at Maranatha Village.
Rev. Stewart Harold Robinson was born in a two room log cabin on a cattle ranch in the southern Black Hills of South Dakota. The families of his mother, Amy Leota Robinson, and father, Martin Wilson Orr, homesteaded on Bradley Flats near Minnekota, South Dakota in the early 1880’s.
He moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he graduated from East High School in 1938. He met the love of his life, Roslouise Kitty Yancey, on Easter Sunday, 1934, when she was just ten years old. They were married November 21, 1941.
Rev. Robinson’s ministry began at the age of sixteen when he preached his first sermon at the City Union Mission. While attending Central Bible Institute, me pastored the rural church in Rimby and pioneered the church in Cave Spring, MO. He graduated in 1953 with dual B.A. and B.Th. degrees, and was ordained that same year in the Southern Missouri District of the Assemblies of God.
After graduation, Pastor Robinson moved his young family to Michigan City, Indiana, where he built “Faith City” during his 13 year tenure. He became Assistant District Superintendent and Foreign Missions Secretary for the Indiana District. He also served as Executive Presbyter of the Southern Missouri District and General Presbyter of the General Council of the Assemblies of God.
Rev. Robinson pastored Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Springfield, MO, 1965-1977. His other pastorates included Central Bible Church, Miami, FL, First Assembly of God, Pensacola, FL, and Elwood, MO, Assembly of God.
As a missionary beginning in 1960, Rev. Robinson preached in 56 countries through the world, and as an evangelist in every state in the Union.
In 1942 Stewart joined the U.S. Army Air Corp and served as a First Lieutenant as a navigation instructor. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Stewart and Roslouise Robinson had three sons, “Robby”, “Randy”, and “Rusty”. Stewart Harold, II, and his wife Catherine of Grand Rapids, MI, are both deceased. Joel Martin and his wife Deborah reside in Grand Junction, CO. Russell Lowell and his wife Brenda live in Gainesville, FL.
Stewart was predeceased by his grandson, Geoffery Stewart Robinson. He is survived by his grandchildren, Kelly (Darrin) Dreyer and Teresa (Chad) Ludema, Holland, MI; Cabot Joel (Melissa) Robinson, Oklahoma City, OK; Amy Balog, Houston, TX; Brittany Robinson, Durham, NC; and Tai (Andrew) Sharp, Grand Rapids, MI. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The celebration of Stewart Robinson’s life will be at Praise Assembly of God Church, 3535 N. Glenstone Ave., Springfield, MO, at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 15, 2013, officiated by Reverends Don Miller and Kenneth Fent. A graveside committal will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, April 14, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Vernon Henson and Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
