Sue Paynter Moore, age 93, of Springfield, MO, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at St. John’s Medical Center. She was born December 17, 1917, in Lawton, OK, to John and Nellie (Adcock) Paynter. She attended Drury College and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Sue earned a BA degree in French from Stanford University Class of 1939. Sue had a passion for scrapbooking, creating over 25 volumes. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Sue worked for the Army air training command during WW II, and was a part time bookkeeper in her husband’s veternary clinic. Sue is a devout Christian and a member of the Second Baptist Church. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother and loved her family deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents John William Paynter and Nellie Victoria (Adcock) Paynter; her husband Charles Carson Moore; an infant brother; and a sister, Margaret Curtis.
She is survived by three sons: Charles C. Moore, Jr. of Springfield, MO, John Moore and wife Becky of Kansas City, MO, Bill Moore and wife Vicki of Springfield, MO; four grandchildren: Emily Wilson, Stephen Moore, Lauren Moore, and Trent Moore; two nieces and families: Nell Peters, and Camille Ricketts; as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 pm Wednesday, February 23rd in the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, MO.
