Susan (Susie) Diane Price, 67, of Springfield (formerly Fair Play, MO) passed away on January 13, 2024, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO. At that time, she was a resident of Colonial Springs Residential Care in Buffalo, MO.
She was born in Humansville, MO on March 29, 1956, to Bobby (Bob) G. Price and Peggy A. (Curry) Price of Fair Play, Missouri. Susie spent her childhood and teen years with her grandparents Walter and Verona Price in Fair Play, MO who she considered Mom and Dad.
She attended Fair Play RII Schools and in her high school years was very active in sports and a leader in her FHA chapter. She learned from her grandmother Verona how to cook and clean and had her school friends at her house often. She was always so particular about her room, her clothes, her records, and known for her spotless Keds tennis shoes. She was great at debate, especially politics, and continued that path by reading the newspaper and kept up with local and national news even into her adulthood.
Following graduation in 1974, and after a brief semester of college in Warrensburg, MO, she joined the United States Army. Susie then lived on the East coast and started a career in coffee sales, continuing that career in Springfield, MO. Through her gift of gab, she made many friends in the Springfield region on her coffee routes and kept her ties with her “74” friends from Fair Play. Susie loved her music from her extensive vinyl album collection, her dogs Hooter, Tator, and Poopsie and hanging out with friends. Susie was an avid fisherwoman and loved to go fishing near and around the Stockton Lake area.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, a sister and niece.
She is survived by her Aunt Joce Davolt of Fair Play, MO and her aunt Evelyn Gustason of Chesterfield, MO, a cousin Paul Murphy in New Market Virginia, two sisters of Springfield, MO, special friend Ron Harris of Springfield, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Bethel Church Cemetery located SW of Fair Play, MO at 19950 MO-245 highway.
