Mrs. Sylvia E. Holderby went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, at Quail Creek following a lengthy illness. Sylvia was born February 16, 1925, to John and Iva Daley in Branson, MO. She married the love of her life, Robert L. Holderby, Sr., November 30, 1940. He preceded her in death in 2005 after nearly 65 years of marriage.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Sylvia loved her family. She served as a customer service representative for the Assemblies of God national office from 1970 until her retirement in 1990. She and her husband were members of Evangel Temple from its inception.
Sylvia is survived by four children: Juleen (Vance) Turnage; Robert L. (Billye) Holderby; Sue (Jerry) Montgomery; Ronald (Anietra) Holderby. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her loving sister and brother-in-law Violet and Gifford Boswell of Chillicothe, MO. A host of nieces and nephews also will miss her greatly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2011, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour before service from 12:00 to 1:00 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Holderby Memorial Missions fund at Evangel Temple, or to The Gideons. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home East Springfield, MO.
