May 19, 1950 – June 10, 2025
With joy in remembering a life so beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Terry Lynn Young, who left this world on June 10, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born May 19, 1950, to Chester Clancey and Shirley May (Coomer) Loflin, Terry was the second of seven siblings—growing up in a lively home with her brother Jerry and sisters Martha (Mert), Betty, Karen, Mary, and younger brother Steve. Her heart for people and her radiant personality made her the sunshine in every room.
On March 19, 1971, Terry married the love of her life, Chris Alan Young. Together, they built a home full of laughter, warm gatherings, and shared hobbies—including sewing teddy bears, a craft they both enjoyed and poured love into. They also spent countless hours bowling, playing board games, and hosting friends and family for every occasion imaginable.
Terry was a talented seamstress for many years, known for her skill, attention to detail, and creativity. She found great joy in her work and was proud to use her hands to create things that brought comfort and happiness to others.
She was the proud mother of two children, Kris Tina Foster (husband Perry) and Craig Alan Young (wife Emily), and the endlessly devoted “Nana” to her grandchildren—Taylor Young, Hunter Foster, Carter Young (wife Emily), and Owen Young. Her heart grew even fuller with the arrival of her great-grandchildren—Kylie, Raelynn, and Merida—who brought her endless joy and smiles.
Terry was known affectionately by many as “Mom,” and by even more as “Nana.” Her generous heart, sharp wit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome left a lasting mark on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Shirley; her brother Jerry; and sisters Betty and Martha.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery 5201 South Southwood Springfield, Missouri.
Though we will miss her every day, Terry’s love, spirit, and strength live on in all of us. In her honor, take time to hug your people, laugh a little louder, and make someone feel like family—just like she always did.
