Thelma Mabel Mobley-Luttrell passed away peacefully in her home Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the age of 104. She was the third of seven children born to Charles Andrew and Martha Jane (Clevenger) Potter on June 7, 1909.
In 1925, Thelma was sent to live with her aunt in Wichita, Kansas (photo) until her future husband, Harold William Mobley came to get her in his Model T Ford at Christmas. Thelma and Harold were joined in marriage on May 2, 1926. Together they raised their two sons, Harold Gene “Sonny” and Donald Richard in Springfield, Missouri. The family later moved to Bois D’Arc, Missouri. Thelma was employed by Grant’s Department Store, Newberry’s, and Lily-Tulip. After Harold’s death in 1977, Thelma moved to Springfield. On September 9, 1982, she married Ralph Luttrell. Harold, Thelma, and Ralph were all members of the South National Church of Christ. Thelma attended Sunset Church of Christ prior to her death.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Mobley and Ralph Luttrell; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Florence (Baxter) Mobley; and son, Dr. Donald R. Mobley, DVM. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Anna (Yeager) Mobley; grandchildren: Michael Mobley and his wife, Paulette, Steve Mobley and his wife, Kris, Judy Austin and her husband, David, Larry Mobley and his wife, Janice, Teresa Reese and her husband, Calvin, Kenneth Mobley, Daniel Mobley and his wife, April, Susie Mobley, Richard Mobley and his wife, Gabrielle, and Patrick Mobley; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 30, 2013, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2013, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
