Theodore Edmond Von Willer “Ted” 91, of Springfield, MO. passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon, MO. Born April 14, 1921 on the James River near Diggins MO to Almond & Bertie (Wright) Von Willer.
Ted graduated from Springfield High School in 1939. He was a Chief Petty officer in the Navy during WWII and a member of the Navel Reserves and Fleet Reserve Assc. After the war he worked at the
Frisco Coach Shop then attended meat cutter school at Safeway Grocer. He was a deputy Recorder of Deeds, then was elected Recorder of Deeds for Greene Co. in 1958 and 1962. In 1964 he was appointed Deputy Collector of Revenue for Missouri by Governor Hearns. He worked for Elkins-Swyers Co. as a salesman from 1969 until retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Betty Jo Von Willer, a brother Bill, a sister Katie, and step daughter Becky Long.
He is survived by three children from his first wife, Helen Maxwell (Jon), Ted Von Willer Jr.(Susan), Mary Overgaard (Paul), a step daughter Pam Dusenbery (Bill), son in law Bill Long, son Chris Von Willer, daughter Lisa Powell (Robert), 11 grand children, and 11 great-grand children.
Visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East on Sunday Jan. 6, from 2-4 pm. Funeral is Monday Jan. 7 at 9 am and burial to follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
