Funeral services for Thomas F. “Tom” Cobb age 77 of Cabot, Arkansas formerly of Hollister, Missouri will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson. Burial with full military honors will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Masonic services will follow the service in the funeral home.
He died July 30, 2013 at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born on December 11, 1935 at Chadwick, Missouri the son of Thomas Newton and Fairy Geneva Fletcher Cobb. He was a longtime resident of Taney County. He was retired from the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and was a longtime member of the Branson Masonic Lodge. He was of the protestant faith. At a young age, Tom worked with his dad in timber, cutting logs and stave bolts. At the age of 18, he joined the army. During his 20 years in the service, he served four tours in Korea, one tour in Germany and one in Hawaii. Tom always loved to talk about the army and was extremely proud of his service. After retirement, he worked for approximately seven years at the Federal Prison in Springfield, Missouri. Later, he opened a donut shop in Branson, Missouri, and also worked as a chef in various places. He loved to cook and treated family members and friends to many of his specialties.
Survivors are his wife; Elsie Wilkerson Cobb of the home in Cabot, Arkansas, Three brothers, Jeral Cobb of Cabot, Arkansas, Ronnie Cobb of Forsyth, Missouri and Dwight Cobb of Bruner, Missouri. Two sisters, Ruby Melton of Oldfield, Missouri and Sharon Wyman of Cedar Creek, Missouri. Three step-children, five grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife , Barbara Baughman, a son, Glen Stottle, and a sister, Geneva Everett.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 pm, Monday in the funeral home.
